Shine Bright

January 8, 2010 at 4:22 PM (Poems)

Negative space, absence of light, negative race, absence of sight
As our days progress, chaos reigns, and sanity is overcome by fright
Without a guide, lost on the path, without a side, lost in the wrath
A few were chosen to weather the storm and piece together the aftermath
They were selected, yet unaware, some would say diamonds in the rough
Unrefined gems found amidst rough terrains, their clarity they had to uncuff
Their surroundings were the warden, and their peers might as well have been guards
Life inversely a prison, keeping them out instead of in, in those regards
At the core of their fortress, individually designed, a gift is found like no other
A culmination of traits sources from a place beyond a father or mother
A vision for the good, hope for humanity, and a heart built to endure
A love for giving, spirit of selflessness, a soul, that at its core, remains pure
A wine-sort of talents that continue to strengthen as time maintains
Steel-like abilities, the beautiful finish brought out through fiery pain
These lights in a dark world, losing hope because they feel alone
The world needs you now more than ever, amid times He doesn’t condone
The hardest plays are given to the best players, just consider that small notion
Disregard the wind, lightning, thunder, and stay close to your Anchor while on the ocean
Darkness sets out to destroy you, with you gone, there’s absence of sight
But He wants you to stay rooted in yourself, reach your potential, and most importantly Shine Bright

Hey I really like the concept of the growth, that while gifted, people aren’t aware of it or even aware that there may be a need for their talent for sight.

And it’s only after external conditions do you realize you have sight and that others, still blinded are harmful to the cause, to themselves and even to you.

Yet somehow there is the obligation to “save” “enlighten” them or try to.. and this is an interesting concept. that the ignorant lead simple, easy paths yet those with the vision (visionaries) have to be selfless and giving.

If we look at history and based on our twonversation tonight, it’s true.. revolutionaries die young. yet thei rmessage, if even only heard by a few at first perserveres and causes ripples, years and decades later shining on more and more people, they are sort of given many lives, live many more years as a light source than as a simple person..

very nicely done.. I see many themes. hope, evolving to change, overcoming, being aware that there are visionaires sent/born/around to guide, rising above the mundane life (prison) and evil trappings to somethign more spiritually rewarding (waking up)

in response to this, to play devils advocate.. why do we as humans have a messiah complex? how do we spot false-prophets/liars/egomaniacs/attention seekers all here to distract or maliciously/purposefully blind us.

further to that what about the differences that keep us apart? how can this light be translated or fair to all the people at once? is it possible perhaps the beacon is what is seperating us in the first place?

How we find those out to purposely blind us? It’s a matter of staying focused on your goal. Those who are aspiring to the same goal, will have no problem aligning their selves with your aim and following suit. It’s your job, as a “light” to stay vigilant of those around you. You have to be mindful of those you’re aiding, those who follow you, and those who want to help. It’s a constant job where you have to be mindful of everything all at once.

What I’m finding is, we’re separated for a reason. I’m staring to slowly come across other people who have the same aim, and we’re able to help each other. If we had met each other any earlier, we would not have been prepared for out encounter. We’re separated for as long as we still have personal growth to accomplish, and then when we’re ready for that next step, or to make use of our traits, we find ourselves unknowingly walking into that situation.

As I mentioned, I have to get back to you on the messiah complex question. I have an idea of why, but I want to mull it over before I present it. However, I think it resides in the source of our light….
